“Ah, music, a magic beyond all we do here!” - says Albus Dumbledore, the greatest wizard, from the Harry Potter series. Although it's a fiction but doesn't the saying sound true?
Being a 90s kid, I am blessed to have a musically wonderful childhood, and on the top of that, Bollywood songs made it memorable. It is the Golden period of Bollywood music. Every day, we relate ourselves to the songs that we listen to in our mobile, on the radio, in the car or at home while cooking and doing other chores. There are numerous songs for each mood.
Today, I am writing about my 'Top 7 Bollywood Songs' that inspires me when I am feeling down.
7) 'Jhuk Na Paunga':
If you are in a fix to choose between right and easy, this song is the perfect one. Sung in the soulful voice of Papon and penned by Indraneel, this is one of the most underrated songs of Amit Trivedi. You would surely get the goosebumps when you will listen to the line 'Tinke zameer ke itne bhi kam nahi, Bunn na sake phirse ghonsla'. Wow! A must in every playlist,
Icing on the cake is its picturization!
6) 'Kal Ho Na Ho':
Is there anyone who doesn't like this song that has all the right elements? It seemed that Javed Akhtar poured the philosophy of life in this song. Great music by the trio Shankar-Ehsan-Loy and melodious voice of Sonu Nigam made this song earn the National Award. The piano played throughout the song makes us go emotional. (Imagine, every reality show uses the same music to show pain and hope) This title track from the movie Kal Ho Na Ho is like a ray of hope in the gloomy days and makes us realize how important each and every moment in our life is.
5) Naav:
What happens when Anurag Kashyap (who directed 'Gangs of Wasseypur') writes a song? His words would be as bold and piercing as his movies are.
Rakh Dega Jhakjhor Ke Tujhe
Tufano Ka Ghor Hai Dera Ghor Hai Dera
Bhanwar Se Dar Jo Haar Maan Le
Kaheka Phir Jor Hai Tera Jor Hai Tera
After a long fight there comes a time when we feel like completely giving up. This song inspires us to get back on our feet again and sail our boat (life) through the stormy night. One more inspiring composed by Amit Trivedi and beautifully rendered by Mohan K.
4) Aashayein:
We all have our strengths and our weaknesses. But why should we let our weakness stop us from achieving what we want in our life? Aashayein from the movie 'Iqbal' tells you exactly the same thing. Magical composition by Salim Suleiman. Its sad version is also the best with words like:
Teri Wo Raftaar Ho, Rokey see bhi tu na rukey
Haansil kar aisa Shikhar, Parbat ki bhi nazrein jhuke
The acoustic guitar and the strong voice of KK make this song an eternal beauty.
3) Tu Na Jaane Aas Pas Hai Khuda:
Many times we feel that in our struggle we are all alone but if we look carefully around we will find ourselves surrounded by people who genuinely care for us, and all we need to do is ask for help. Heavenly composition by Vishal - Shekhar and fantastically sung by Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, this Sufi song from 'Anjanaa Anjani' can fill your heart with positivity. Surprisingly Vishal and Shekhar wrote the lyrics.
Khud pe daal tu nazar, Haalaton se haar kar, Kahan chala re
Haath ki lakeer ko Modhta marodta Hai hausla re
Haath ki lakeer ko Modhta marodta Hai hausla re
2) Zindagi ki Yehi Reet Hai:
After a long debate with myself, I have put this song on number 2. This song is my personal favourite. It describes the journey fo life so beautifully. It inspires one to look at the silver lining in the dark clouds and teaches us never to lose hope. One of the best songs of Kishore Kumar, written by Javed Akhtar and composed by Laxmikant - Pyarelal. Listen to its sad version, and I am sure the picturization will bring tears in your eyes. "Thode aansun hai thodi hansi. Aaj gam hai to kal phir khushi" ... Wow.
1) Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai:
'Kisi ki muskurahaton pe ho nisaar... kisi ka dard mil sake to le udhaar... kisi ke waaste ho tere dil mein pyaar... jeena isi ka naam hai'.
Listen to this song from the movie 'Anari' and tell me why it should not be on number 1 in my list. The most inspirational song of Bollywood which bring tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. Love and Humanity win all. Shailendra has conveyed this strong message through his lyrics which has been melodiously presented to us by Mukesh.
So this is my list of Top 7 Bollywood songs that inspire me. Do let me know which are your favourite inspirational Bollywood songs.
